On 7th July Maize Research Institute - Knezha had the honour of welcoming a distinguished scientist from Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Turkey - Prof. Dr. Metin Tuna, Head of the Department of Agriculture at the Faculty of Agriculture. 
The meeting with the management was marked by discussions and a shared willingness for joint future international projects. A memorandum with Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University for bilateral cooperation is to be signed. Current issues of sustainable agriculture in relation to maize breeding, as well as alternative cultivation of sorghum as a more drought-resistant crop, were discussed. Breeding fields of MRI - Knezha were visited, as well as a mixed sowing of maize and sorghum, planted under a project of the Institute.
We're grateful for the visit and the meeting, and we hope for a fruitful future collaboration and deepening cooperation between the two institutions.
